Colbert Heights tames Bobcats

COLBERT HEIGHTS – Class 3A, Area 16 champion Colbert Heights raced out to a large lead in the first quarter and held on to beat Phil Campbell 68-58 Friday night.
The Wildcats outscored Phil Campbell 21-4 in the first quarter before the Bobcats responded with 18 second-quarter points to cut the defict to 39-16 at halftime.
Colbert Heights scored 20 more points in the third quarter to hold a 27-point advantage heading into the final period. The Wildcats only netted nine points in the fourth as Phil Campbell broke out for 26 points, but the Bobcats ran out of time.
Maddox and Dill each scored a game-high 17 points, while Thompson added 10 for Phil Campbell (10-14).
Justin Barnes led Colbert Heights (18-6) with 16 points.

The Phil Campbell girls dominated the boards but Colbert Heights capitalized on a poor shooting night by the Bobcats to win 55-48 Friday.
Chasity Morgan paced Phil Campbell with 24 points, while Alissa Smith had nine and Jessica Taylor added five points and 25 rebounds.
Shannon Gasaway added six points, while Tiffany Miller and Tatum Benford each finished with two for the Lady Bobcats.
Amanda Wallace, Haleigh Bewley and Mariah Whitman each scored 12 points for Colbert Heights.
