Help needed in election times

By Staff
Franklin County Probate Judge Barry Moore and his staff have been busy preparing for next week's presidential primaries. This is a big year for the office, with primaries in February, June, a possible run-off in July and then November's general elections.
Each year, office staff must hunt high and low for people willing to serve as poll workers. It is not an easy task.
Poll workers must give of themselves to seve as much as 12 hours in one day watching polling stations. It is difficult for many people to give up a day of work or to be forced to use vacation or sick time to serve.
But it is certainly a service needed and one that is an important part of making sure the election process moves smoothly. We urge anyone who can, to offer a little time later in the year to serve at a polling station.
Chief Clerk Rhonda Boyles and Moore could certainly use more help and there are plenty of people in Franklin County who could serve.
