Lady Tigers dominate Cherokee 40-10

Lynn eliminates Vina in NAC Tournament

CHEROKEE – The Red Bay varsity girls held Cherokee to four points in the first half as the Lady Tigers won 40-10 Thursday night.
Red Bay built a 22-4 halftime lead and led by as many as 28 points in the second half to improve to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in Class 2A, Area 16.
Aimee Jackson and Jackie Holland led the Lady Tigers with nine points each, and Taylor Hester added five.
Cherokee 57
Red Bay 56
Dominique Croom poured in 32 points, including the game-winning shot at the buzzer, as the Cherokee varsity boys beat Red Bay 57-56 Thursday night.
Justin Page led Red Bay with 20 points, while Grant Fancher had 11 and Pablo Makepeace added 10.
Lynn 57
Vina 43
VINA – Heather Holland recorded another double-double for Vina, but Lynn eliminated the Lady Red Devils 57-43 from the North Alabama Conference tournament Thursday night.
Holland finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Devyn Childers scored 10 points and Jessie Norwood added nine.

The Vina varsity boys led 23-22 at halftime but Lynn used a strong second half to win 56-41.
Blake Thorn had eight points, nine rebounds and one steal, and B.J. Beard had eight points and two steals to lead Vina. Randy Barnes and Cass White each finished with six points, and Barnes added four rebounds.
Mars Hill 65

FLORENCE – Sarah Bailey scored 29 points as the Mars Hill varsity girls earned a 65-39 win over Phil Campbell Thursday night.
Alissa Smith had a team-high 12 points for the Lady Bobcats, while Jessica Taylor had 11 points and Chasity Morgan had nine.

The Mars Hill varsity boys picked up an area win by defeating Phil Campbell 81-62, despite torrid 3-point shooting in the first half by the Bobcats.
The Bobcats knocked down 9-of-14 treys in the first half, but Mars Hill outscored them 37-10 in the second half to improve to 4-0 in Class 2A, Area 16.
Caleb Thompson led Phil Campbell with 15 points, while Tanner Maddox had 12.
Mitchell Barnes and Mark Vanhorn each had a game-high 22 points, and Jacob Patterson added 11.
Russellville 37
Muscle Shoals 35
The Russellville junior girls edged Muscle Shoals 37-35 Thursday night.
Ayanna McCullough led the Lady Golden Tigers with nine points.
Mars Hill 36
Phil Campbell 23
Sidney Davis scored a game-high 13 points as the Mars Hill junior girls beat Phil Campbell 36-23 Thursday night.
Amber Chaney led the Lady Bobcats with 10 points.

Dylan Green led the Mars Hill junior varsity boys with 16 points as the Panthers defeated Phil Campbell 66-52.
Bailey Welborn led the Bobcats with 15 points.
