Prep basketball schedule
December 14
Vina junior girls beat Covenant Chr.
TUSCUMBIA – The Vina junior girls defeated Covenant Christian 33-22 Tuesday night as Claudia Townsend scored 10 points and Emily Davidson had eight.
The Covenant Christian varsity boys beat Vina 69-29.
Brent Townsend led Vina with six points, three rebounds and one steal, while B.J. Beard had five points, two rebounds and one steal and Blake Thorn added four points and three rebounds.
The Covenant Christian varsity girls beat Vina 52-42, despite another double-double from Heather Holland.
Holland finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while Devyn Childers added 13 points for the Lady Red Devils.
Belgreen JV boys beat Waterloo
BELGREEN – The Belgreen junior varsity boys beat Waterloo 38-30 Tuesday night.
Brandon Hester led Belgreen with 12 points, while Rusy Miles had a team-high nine points for Waterloo.
4th annual RBHS baseball clinic
December 20-22
RED BAY – The Red Bay baseball program is holding its fourth annual hitting clinic on Thursday, Dec. 20 and Friday December 21.
The clinic will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. There will also be a pitching clinic held Saturday, Dec. 22 with a minimum of 10 players.
The featured hitting instructor will be Northeast Mississippi assistant coach and former professional baseball player Richie Harrelson, who won a state championship at Fayette and played and coached at Ole Miss.
Participants (1st-12th grades) will be taught the fundamentals of hitting by Harrelson and the Red Bay coaching staff.
Registration is $40 per player. For more information, contact Red Bay coach Donny Hastings at 668-3557.
Millenium Run
December 31
KILLEN – The annual Millenium Run 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run will be held Monday, December 31. The race is the only midnight run in north Alabama, and it will be held at First Baptist Church in Killen beginning at 11:45 p.m. For more information, contact Frank Spires at fspires@spiresandassociations.com or (256) 760-9502.
