RHS varsity squads sweep Mars Hill

The Russellville varsity basketball squads swept Mars Hill last Friday at home.
The varsity boys made their season debut with a win, while the varsity girls picked up their second win of the season.
In the girls game, Tasha West led Russellville with 25 points, while Erin Reynolds had 17. Victoria Taylor (10), Janarie Donley (5) and Ayanna McCullough 3) also scored for the Lady Golden Tigers.
In the boys game, seven different players scored for Russellville (1-0) as the Golden Tigers built a 45-23 halftime lead and cruised past Mars Hill 89-55.
Cory Trapp led Russellville with 26 points, while Terrence Smith had 19. Jermaine Bates (12), Nate Dunstan (8), Tucker Hammock, Jordan Hammond (3) and Micah McCulloch (2) also scored for the Golden Tigers.
David Gilchrist led Mars Hill (3-2) with 16 points.
Russellville will play at Haleyville tonight beginning at 4:30 p.m.
