Tharptown wins at H'ville tourney

HUBBERTVILLE – The Tharptown varsity baseketball teams swept Vina in the Hubbertville Thanksgiving Tournament Tuesday night.
Tharptown trailed at halftime, but the Wildcats used a 23-10 run in the third quarter to win 85-70.
Junior guard Jacob Parker led Tharptown with a game-high 22 points, while Brent Townsend was the leading scorer for Vina with 17 points.
In the varsity girls game, Tharptown used a balanced scoring attack to win 67-47.
Junior forward Hollie Hines led the Wildcats with 14 points, and Chelsea McCluskey (10), Laken Barnett (11) and Beth Lane (11) also finished in double-figures.
Tharptown's junior teams will play at Red Bay Nov. 26 beginning at 4 p.m. The varsity squads will host Hackleburg Nov. 27 beginning at 4 p.m.
Vina's junior girls and varsity teams will play at Waterloo Nov. 27 at 5 p.m.
