East Franklin students do well at math tournament

The sixth, seventh and eighth grade math team at East Franklin Junior High School recently participated in a math tournament at Wallace State Community College.
The sixth grade tea, won a 3rd place team trophy, beating five other teams. Out of 58 students, Cory Potter won a first place trophy and scored 15 ciphering points, Autumn Thomas placed twelfth and scored three ciphering points, Leanell Hill placed and scored one ciphering point, Brady Whitten and Skeeter Benford also participated in the tournament.
The seventh grade team placed sixth. Out of 56 students, Dustin Storie placed fifteenth, Megan Risley placed twenty-third, Mary Sparks placed forty-second and scored three ciphering points, and Michaela Gable and Brittany Cheatham also participated in the tournament.
The eighth grade placed seventh. Out of 56 students, Cory Alexander won a fifth place trophy and scored five ciphering points, Trevor Hodge, Riley Baker, Jared Bowling, Kesley Tackett, Too Mitchell and Haley Bass also participated in the tournament.
