PC club honors first president

PHIL CAMPBELL – Phil Campbell Civitan honored the club's first president during their Installation Banquet Monday night.
President Phillip Vinson presented last year's president Jerry Bray with a plaque for his dedication to the Phil Campbell Civitan Club. Bray was the first president of the club, which was chartered in 2006.
"I love Civitan, and I love what Civitan brought out in me," Bray said.
In the club's brief existence, it has taken part in several local projects, including providing Christmas for families in need.
"It [helping the families] made my Christmas last year," member Martha Farmer said.
The club also sponsored a coat drive last year and another drive is currently ongoing. Distribution for the coats will be Nov. 26.
Paul Emmerson, governor for the Northwest Alabama region, lead the new Civitan officers in their oaths to lead the club for the next year, and to always promote good citizenship since good citizenship is the founding ideal of the organization.
The new officers are Phillip Vinson, president; Dennis Davis, president-elect; May King, secretary; Terrell Potter, treasurer; Ralph Beckenback, chaplain and Merrell Potter, sergeant at arms.
The club's new board of directors includes, Gerede Oliver, Bob Jarrell, Martha Farmer, Jerry Bray and Eddie Barton.
The Phil Campbell Civitans meet on the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Phil Campbell Community Center at 6 p.m.
