Farm City honors local producers' contributions
By Staff
The Franklin County Farm City Banquet will be Thursday, November 15 at 6 p.m. at the A.W. Todd Centre. Dr. Wayne Ray will be the emcee for the event.
The Farm City banquet has been going strong for more than 50 years. The Franklin County Cattleman's Association will provide the meal for the event while the Red Bay FFA Quartet provides the entertainment for the evening.
Several awards including Cattle Producer of the Year, Environmental Teacher of the Year, and Citizen of the Year will be given out during the banquet.
The night will highlight local farmers, farm families and those who teach agriculture to our youth.
It's hard to imagine what life would be like without the rich agricultural base we have today. With Thanksgiving coming up soon, it seems only fitting that we remember our local growers and producers. Without them, our Thanksgiving table would be empty
Last year, more than 150 people attended the banquet, and the organizers are hoping for another large crowd this year.
Tickets are $10 each and are available through various outlets. Everyone is encouraged to attend this year's banquet and support those who support the agricultural resources we have available.
We encourage you to attend. It will be the best meal you can buy for $10, and all the proceeds go to a worthy cause.
