Name: Tommy Thrasher
Hometown: Haleyville
High School: Haleyville
Position/Employer: Maintenance, Irby Construction
Family: Engaged; two daughters
FCT: What do you enjoy most about your job?
TT: We have good tenants, and I have the ability to meet new different people. I get to help people, and there might be some times I can't always help in a hardship case, but I can point someone in the right direction. And (Irby) is a good company to work for.
FCT: How does Irby treat its employees?
TT: They are good to us, and their business is more like family. Things aren't cut-and-dry – you can always call up there (to the main office in Florence) and talk to someone there. And they do things for employees – they had a luau this summer for us and our families.
FCT: What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
TT: I usually work out, because that's about all I have time for (during the week). On Friday nights I like to to go to the high school football games and on Saturdays, I like to watch college football. Weekends are a good time to visit family and friends, too.
FCT: Which high school games do you attend?
TT: I go to the Tharptown home games – the ball team there is playing great ball. It's unbelievable the progress they're making, and I think they will be a force to be reckoned with next year.
FCT: Who do you admire the most?
TT: My father because he never gets upset and always tries to do what's right. I can always talk to him, and he'll always find a way to help you.
FCT: What are you long-term plans for your career?
TT: I think we all think about doing something different but I like what I do here, and I like who I work for.
