Railcar plant will have some impact on Franklin

By Staff
Officials with Alabama National Corporation addressed a healthy crowd of interested local business leaders at the A.W. Todd Center in Russellville Wednesday.
It was a great corporate gesture that the company was willing to dedicate manpower for the roughly one-hour discussion. Now, it would have been nice to hear that the plant may bring with it handfuls of suppliers but that won't be the case. However, local businesses will be given consideration in terms of supplying wires and other applicable hardware.
That could be a huge bump in business to those with competitive prices and willing to bid on the job. All told, the company expects to hire 1800 local workers and should have a positive impact on the surrounding area. Hopefully, this area will become a valuable business partner to Alabama National Corp., which will attract many more businesses.
