Regina Barnes King, age 50 of Gadsden, died Thursday, October 11, 2007. In her role of music director, touched many students lives with her love of music. She inspired her students to strive for excellence and as a result, her bands won many awards for work, and many students received college scholarships. She will be missed by her family, friends, and students. She was the former band director at West End High School, Boaz High School, and Moody High School. After retiring from the Alabama School System, Regina joined the staff of Pepperell Middle School in Rome, Ga.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Etowah Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jason King officiating. Burial will be in the Union Hill Cemetery in Phil Campbell. Casket bearers for the service will include Josh Warhurst, Juddy Warhurst, Andrew Harris, A.J. Barnes, Robbie Gibbs, and Dennis Duncan.
She is survived by son, Jake King, sisters, Melissa Tidpett and husband, Randy, of Phil Campbell, and Beth Harris of Phil Campbell; brothers, Kenneth Barnes and wife, Pat, of Phil Campbell, Skipper Warhurst of Phil Campbell and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, David Barnes; mother, Reba Barnes; and grandparents, Jack and Olivia Warhurst.
Etowah Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
William "Buck" H. Collins

William "Buck" Hollis Collins, 74, of Tuscumbia, died Oct. 12, 2007 at Helen Keller Hospital.
Mr. Collins lived most of his life in Colbert County and was a member of the Holiness Church. He was a supervisor for Robbins Tire and Rubber Company and retired with more than 30 years of service.
The funeral will be Sunday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. at the Pinkard Funeral Home In Russellville with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Collins, of Tuscumbia; son, William Wayne Collins of Littleville; daughters, Daphne Cagle and husband, Keith, of Russellville, Sharon Hovater and husband, Ricky, of Russellville; sisters, Wilma Sockwell, Linda Willis, both of Littleville; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Mary Collins; brother, LD Collins; sisters, Wilda Rae Hill and Elnore Mitchell.
Jack Dempsey Cavender

Jack Dempsey Cavender passed away Oct. 9, 2007 at Russellville Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Winston County and a member of the Church of God Church.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 12 at Pinkard Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Brasher and Bro. Jeff Whitten officiating. Burial was in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Millie Jean Cavender; children, Dewayne Cavender and Ronnie Cavender; brothers, Earl Cavendar and Hugh Cavender; sisters, Lois Canida and Beulah Wells; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Sonny Cavender; granddaughter, Lashae Young; brothers, Johnny Mack abd Willard Marcus Cavender and sisters, Dorothy Emerson, Jessie Mae Newell and Faye Suitts.
