Red Bay fire truck in need of repair

RED BAY – Fire Chief Bud Strickland addressed the council about repairing the city's damaged fire truck during the regular council meeting held Monday night.
Strickland told the council that repairs to the 1983 fire truck would cost at least $14,000.
"About 90 percent of the replacement parts have been discontinued," Strickland said.
Councilman Rayford Seahorn asked if it would be wise to repair the damaged truck because of its age. Mayor Jeff Reid appointed Seahorn and Councilwoman Ann Wilkins to a committee with Strickland to come up with the best resolution for the situation.
The fire truck was damaged in the early morning hours of Sept. 16 when it jumped out of gear, rolled down hill and struck a local business. No injuries were reported in the incident.
