The American Cancer Society (ACS) recently announced that they will accept nominations for the ACS's Lane Adams Quality of Life Award until Dec. 1, 2007.
Beth Faulkner with ACS said that the award is given each year to a person who provides outstanding, compassionate care to people facing cancer.
"The American Cancer Society understands the value of acknowledging exemplary cancer care and the critical role that outstanding caregivers play in the lives of people living with cancer," Faulkner said.
She added that the award was named in honor of former American Cancer Society Executive Vice President Lane W. Adams, and honors nurses, physicians, clergy and chaplains, hospice workers, psychologists, volunteers, and other direct care providers who offer comfort, courage, hope and inspiration to those fighting cancer.
The award will be presented from the National Home Office in Austin, Tex. Each of the nominees will receive a specially designed gold pin and a plaque during a ceremony next spring.
