    Ila Mae Cook

    Ila Mae Cook, age 70, of Haleyville passed away July 18, 2007 at Lakeland Community Hopsital.
    She was born in Nauvoo to Henry and Ila Parrish Estes and was a member of the South Haleyville Baptist Church.
    Funeral services were held July 22, 2007 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Haleyville with Greg Blanton and Ronnie Marbutt officiating. Burial followed in the Bethel Cemetery in the Wiley Branch Community.
    She is survived by her children, James Leon Cook of Newberry Springs, Cal., LInda McGough and Eddie Rufus Cook, both of Haleyville; brother, Lawrenc Estes of Arcadia, Fla.; sisters, Mary Ellen Scruggs of Haleyville, and Patty Shackleford of Zolfo Springs, Fla.; seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, James Junior Cook, and her parents.
    Pinkard Funeral Home of Haleyville assisted the family.
    Eric J. Brown
    July 21, 2007
    Eric J. Brown, age 24, of Fairhope, Alabama, died Saturday, July 21, 2007 at his residence. He was a native of Florence, but lived in Fairhope for the past several years, and was a member of the Baptist Church and employed by Ward's Construction.
    Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville. Burial will be in the Liberty Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service are Billy Ray "Bubba", Larnel, Lynn, Ritchie, David and Steven.
    He is survived by his wife, Wendy Brown, and four children, Megan, Tyler, Ally and Abby; his parents, Jeff and Darlene Burnett of Huntsville, and Jerry Brown of Jackson; sister, Kristin Wallace of Decatur; grandparents, Billy and Betty Patterson of Hackleburg, and several nieces and nephews.
    The Pinkard Funeral Home of Russellville assisted the family.
    Morris Hester
    July 21, 2007
    Morris Leon Hester, age 81, of Russellville passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2007.
    He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Barnett Hester; son, Anthony W. Hester and wife, Tabetha; sisters Eva Kirkley, Ima Glasgow, Marie Bragwell; grandsons, Kellin A. Hester and wife, Christy, Kollin James Hester; great-granchildren, Christlin and Kolten Hester; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the Spry Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Jackie Richardson and Bro. Don Miller officiating the service. Burial was in the Belgreen Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Robert Holcomb, Thomas Holcomb, Foy Hester, Jonathan Hester and Gerald Hooper. Honorary pallbearers will be the Pioneers, Waterfall Valley Conservation Club and Waterfall Valley Trap Shooters.
    He had a love life and the church and was very faithful. He was a member of Belgreen Church of Christ, a fonding member of Waterfall Conservation Club and a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a WWII Navy veteran having served in Pearl Harbor. He enjoyed being outside and was an avid deer hunter. He also sold peaches and was known as the Peach Man.
    He is preceded in death by parents, Walter A. Hester and Jessie Hooper Hester.
    Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
    Elvis O. Borden
    July 22, 2007
    Elvie O. Borden, age 78, of Phil Campbell, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2007.
    She was a member of Russellville 256 Order of Eastern Star. She was always the life of the party, but in a very dignified way. Most of all her walk with Jesus was evident in all she did and said. She was loved by everyone who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
    She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Borden Newell; grandchildren Tammy Schatz and husband Joe, Shannon Newell and wife Peggy; great-grandchildren, Cody Newell, Joshua Schatz, Jordan Schatz, Dalton Newell, Kaitlyn Lowry Newell and Shea Newell; and many nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. at Spry Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, July 25, 2007. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Bro. Randall Tice will officiate. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery in Lawrence County.
    Pallbearers will be Tommy Parker, Billy Parker, Bobby Parker, Ray Parker, Randol Hill and Willard Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be Shannon Newell, Cody Newell, Joshua Schatz and Dalton Newell.
    She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 ? years, Rev. Howard Dennis Borden and her parents, Russell Parker and Maude Hefflin Parker.

    Juanell Baker Potter
    July 23, 2007
    Juanell Baker Potter, age 60, of Muscle Shoals, passed away Monday, July 23, 2007.
    She was a native of Franklin County, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals. She will be remembered as a mother and a grandmother.
    Visitation will be Wednesday, July 25, 2007 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Chad Epperson and Keith Prince will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Beulah Cemetery in Russellville.
    She is survived by her children, Chad Epperson and wife Jeannie of Muscle Shoals, Brandy Trapp Cummings and husband Chris of Phil Campbell, and Mark Potter and fiance Savanna Bray of Muscle Shoals; a brother, A.C. Baker of Double Springs; sisters, Annette Sherrill of Hamilton, and Geliene Prince of Russellville; grandchildren, Corey Epperson, Casey Epperson, Dylan Epperson, Justin Epperson, Josh Epperson, Zachary Epperson and Harley Cummings.
    Pallbearers will be Phillip Sherrill, Adam Baker, Jared Prince, Tim Davis, Gene Robb, Anthony Prince and Jeff Cash. Honorary pallbearers will be Corey Epperson, Casey Epperson, Dylan Epperson, Justin Epperson, Josh Epperson, Zachary Epperson.
    She is preceded in death by her parents Rev. Clyde and Evelyn Baker; son, Micheal Epperson; and brother, Rhodale Baker.
    The family sends a special thanks to Hospice of the Shoals for the loving care provided to their loved one.
    In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to Anchored in the Truth Ministries for True Church Conference, P.O. Box 520, Florence, AL 35631.

    William Turner
    July 24, 2007
    William Denver Turner, age 78, of Russellville, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at his residence. He was a native of Winston County, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
    Visitation will be Wednesday, July 25, 2007 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held directly after the visitation at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jim Lumpkin officiating the service.
    He is survived by daughter, Amy Henry, and fianc/, James Joyner, of Russellville; sister, Novella Hanes and husband, Daniel, of Phil Campbell; and grandchildren, Avery and Zack Senkbeil.
    He was preceded in death by wife, Jeanette Turner; daughter, Teena Turner; sisters, La Merle Pinkard and Virginia Pinkard; brother, Wilton Turner; stepmother, Annie Arthur Turner, and his parents, William and Lois Turner.

    Mary Horton
    July 22, 2007
    Mary Ross Horton, age 67, of Red Bay, died Sunday, July 22, 2007 at ECM Hospital in Florence. She was born April 18, 1940 in Alabama to Douglas Wilson and Sarah Ann Ballard Ledbetter. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Red Bay. She was preceded in death by her parents.
    Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Bro. Larry Hill officiating. Pallbearers for the service were Vollie Pierce, Flavous Puckett, Jim Turner Charles Weatherford, Tommy Bohannon and Douglas Ledbetter.
    She is survived by husband, Kenneth Horton; nephews, Douglas Ledbetter, Ross Ledbetter, and Todd Ledbetter, and a niece, Glory Ledbetter.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Diabetes or Kidney Foundation in her memory.

    Jewell Bostick Beam
    July 23, 2007
    Jewell Bostick Beam, age 93, of New Albany, Miss., died Monday, July 23, 2007 at Graceland Care Center. She was born February 4, 1914 in the Ridge community of northeast Itawamba County to the late Joseph Birk and Flossie Northington Bostick. She married Hulon Thomas Beam in 1938. She was a retired teacher and a long time resident of Tremont, Miss.
    A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Tremont United Methodist Church with Dr. Doyce Gunter and Rev. Dalton Brown officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.at the church prior to the service. Burial will be in the Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service are Rick Lesley, Robin Thornton, Alan Beam, Jim Beam-Ingram, Bob Beam, Bill Beam and Thomas Beam.
    She is survived by her two sons, Jerry Beam and wife, Sally, of New Albany, and Mike Beam and wife, Jennifer, of New Albany; and six grandchildren, Alicia Beam Ingram and husband, Jim, Alan Beam and wife, Angie, Bob Beam, Bill Beam and Thomas Beam.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial be sent to the Mississippi United Methodist Fondation for the Hulton T. and Jewell B. Beam Scholarship Fund for Millsaps College or the Tremont United Methodist Church.
