Man jailed for hit and run

A Russellville man now faces felony charges after hitting a young boy riding his bicycle with his car.
Jeffery Wright, 25, of 411 Rail Splitter Road in Russellville, was arrested Sunday night and charged with leaving the scene of the accident with injuries, a Class C felony, after he allegedly struck a 13-year-old boy on a bicycle and leaving the scene in early June.
The boy sustained multiple injuries including a broken arm and a broken collarbone, and had to undergo emergency surgery the day of the incident to repair his arm, the boy's mother, Katrina Borden, said.
"He is still having problems with movement in his arm, and he is undergoing physical therapy," Borden said.
Wright's bond was set at $50,000 as requested by the state due to the severity of the charges, and the circumstances.
"The state requests that bond be set at $50,000 because the case involves a young boy," District Attorney Joey Rushing said.
Circuit Judge Terry Dempsey, filling in for District Judge Paula McDowell, ordered that Wright must also stay away from the victim and his mother as a condition of the bond.
Upon conviction, Wright could face up to 10 years in prison. He remains in the Franklin County Jail pending bond.
