Franklin County athletes play for UNA

When the University of North Alabama football team takes the field at Braly Stadium this fall, there will be at least a few former Franklin County student-athletes in the stadium.
But these students aren't just Lions fans-they will be wearing the familiar purple-and-gold for UNA, which won the Gulf South Conference football championship in 2006.
Four former Golden Tigers and a Phil Campbell graduate are continuing their athletic careers at UNA.
Reggie Hubbard is a computer information systems major and a junior wide receiver and kickoff return specialist for the Lions. Hubbard was a three-sport athlete in track, basketball and football (all-region, co-captain).
Casey Phillips is a sophomore defensive back for UNA. Phillips played safety, cornerback and kickoff returner for the Golden Tigers and also lettered in baseball and track.
Chris Trapp is a business major and a sophomore wide receiver for the Lions. Trapp was a four-sport athlete in track, baseball, basketball and football (all-region, all-county and team captain.
Addie Grissom ran track and was named an all-county cheerleader for Phil Campbell. Grissom, who graduated this spring, was named a There's A Way scholarship winner. She earned a partial athletic cheerleading scholarship to UNA.
Also, Dustin Goodwin, son of Russellville football coach Doug Goodwin, is an education major and a junior quarterback for the Lions after spending one season at Auburn and redshirting his first season at UNA. Goodwin played for his father at Demopolis High.
