By Staff

PHIL CAMPBELL – The Bobcats kept plugging their way thought the playoffs yesterday evening but it took all seven innings in a 3-2 victory in game two with the Tanner Rattlers.
The bats would stay silent for both teams until late in the second inning when a run by the Rattlers brought the score to 1-0 and thanks to a pitching and defensive dual by both teams, neither was able to post any more points on the board until the seventh inning.
When the scoreboard finally rolled over to the seventh, the Lady Bobcats took their first and only lead of the game, but it came at the perfect time.
Melissa Russell drove in Tia Miller on a single to tie the game at one-all.
Alexis Maggerise followed Russell with a double that drove in two, putting the Bobcats up by a deuce.
Tanner would score one run in their final at-bat.
Game 1, PCHS 6, THS 3
The Phil Campbell Bobcats took game 1 of a three game series from the Tanner Rattlers, 6-3.
The game got off to a bad start for Bobcats. By the end of the first inning Tanner was already out to a 3-0 lead.
The game would remain 3-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning when a double by Melissa Russell drove in Hannah Nix to bring the score to 3-1.
Alexis Maggerise drove in Russell and Carrie Fell to tie the game at the bottom of the fifth.
Leadoff batter Caitlin Stancil drove in Maggerise with a double of her own to give the Bobcats their first lead of the game.
Tanner switched out pitchers at the top of the sixth, but the switch wasn't enough to hold off the Bobcats.
Hannah Nix drove in Shelly Cooper to bring Phil Campbell ahead by two.
Not to be outdone, Melissa Russell drove in Chasity Morgan to cap the scoring.
