    Jeffrey Frank Ryan, 47, of Birmingham died April 14, 2007 at his residence.
    Funeral services were held April 17 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville. Bro. Billy Brasher officiated. Burial followed at Winston Memorial Cemetery.
    He was preceded in death by his father, William Hill Ryan; stepfather, Kenneth Burnette; and brother, Tracy Lynn Burnette.
    Survivors include his mother, Shirley Ryan Burnette, of Alabaster; sister, Margaret Burnette Sobereno, of Birmingham; brothers, Barry A. Ryan, of Birmingham, and Michael Ryan, of Tuscaloosa; nieces, Katana and Kamea, and a host of relatives and friends. Pinkard Funeral Home of Haleyville assisted the family.
    Michael Wayne Sartin
    June 15, 1960
    Michael Wayne Sartin, 46, formerly of the Wiley Branch Community died April 16 in Fredonia, Kansas. He was born June 15, 1960 to Billy and Deane Sartin.
    Funeral services were held Friday April 20 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Sammy Taylor and Bro. Darrell Beard officiated. Burial followed at Old Bethel Cemetery in the Wiley Branch Community.
    Survivors include, his parents, Billy and Deana Sartin, of Wiley Branch; brother, Mark Sartin, of Bear Creek; sisters, Sharon Loden (Denver), of Bear Creek, Paulette Raburn (Jeff), of Haleyville; nieces, Jennifer Poe (Josh), Angela Berry, and Andrea Hicks (Jonathan); nephews, Bradley Raburn and Cody Loden; great nieces, Taylor Brooke Barry, Ashleigh Grace Berry, and Morgan Joyce Hicks; and great nephews, Austin Michael Berry, and Ashton Ferris Poe.

    Dorothy Nell Mills Rutledge
    April 18, 2007
    Dorothy Nell Mills Rutledge, 71, of Haleyville, died April 18, 2007 at her residence. She attended Hines Baptist Church.
    Funeral services were held April 21 at 1:00 pm. at the Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Haleyville. Bro. Ricky Mann officiated. Burial followed at Union Hill Cemetery.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Mills; husband, J.T. Rutledge; great grandchild, Matthew Austin Hood; parents, Willis and Mary Mitchell; brothers, Wesley Mitchell, Rev. Bill Mitchell, A. Lee Mitchell, and R.V. Mitchell; and sisters, Eular Fuller, Ruby Jean Wiginton, Ola Frederick, and Bula Mitchell.
    Survivors include, children, Donnie Ray Mills, of Hamilton, Danny Mills, of Haleyville, Robert Mills, of Haleyville, and Ricky Mills, of Haleyville; brothers, Charles Mitchell, Odis Mitchell, and L.C. Mitchell; sisters, Helen Nelson, Sue Weiher, and Judy Lawler; and 9 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

    Ardena Tomblin
    April 20, 2007
    Ardena Tomblin, 93, of Russellville, died April 20, 2007 at her residence.
    Funeral services were held Monday April 23 at the Spry Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Roger Bond and Bro. Coy Marbutt officiated. Burial followed at Jerry Williams Cemetery in Dunlow, West Virginia.
    Her husband, Lloyd Tomblin, preceded her in death.
    She is survived by one son, Donald Tomblin (Sue), of Medina, Ohio; daughters, Sharon Duncan, of Phil Campbell, and Sandra Goins (Ronnie) of Russellville; sister, Fanny Mayo, of Irving, Texas; grandchildren, Tommy Duncan (Jennifer) Shelly Tombli, Troy Duncan, Christy Smith (Frank), Freddy Duncan (Nikki), Josh Goins, and Brittany Goins; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
    She was born in Logan County, West Virginia on November 19, 1913 to Robert Lee Shelton and Emma Stewart Shelton. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a true Christian friend. The family extends a special thank you to Jennifer, Christy, Candice and the rest of the Aseracare family, and Colbert County Home Health.

    Hubert Glasgow Hester
    April 21, 2007
    Hubert Glasgow Hester, 75, of Russellville, died April 21, 2007 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday April 24 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russ-ellville. Bro. Richard Parker and Dr. Gene Balding officiated. Burial followed at Franklin Memory Garden.
    He was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and a member of First Baptist Church of Russellville. He was in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a supervisor with Ford Motor Company and retired with 24 years of service.
    He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's various activities. He was a fisherman, an avid Alabama football fan, and enjoyed watching basketball.
    His wife, Betty Tompkins Hester, grandchild, Rhett Masterson, and brother Noble Hester preceded him in death.
    Survivors include, daughters, Sherry Patterson (Mitch) of Gulf Shores, Patricia Cox (Don) of Russellville, and Leah Masterson (Jeff) of Russellville; brothers, Thurman Hester, of Alcoa, Tennessee, J.C. Hester, of Russellville, and Horace Hester, of Russellville; grandchildren, Elizabeth Patterson, Sarah Patterson, Matt Patterson, Ty Cox, Julie Masterson, and Jill Masterson; great grandchild, Emma Kelly; and step grandchildren, Dantley Cox and Jean Manasco; and several nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers were Matt Patterson, Ty Cox, Joe Patterson, Dantley Cox, Joey Masterson, and Bruce Fortner.
    Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Poss, Thurman Howard, and Charlie Gargis.
    Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville assisted the family.
    Elsie Lett

    Elsie Lett, 85, of Red Bay, died April 21, 2007 at Helen Keller Hospital.
    Funeral services were held Monday April 23 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay. Bro. Roger Wood officiated. Burial followed at Pleasant Site Cemetery.
    She was born March 9, 1922 in Tishomingo County Mississippi to Samuel and Neomia McMurray Williams. She served as an Army WAC during World War II and worked in Office Management. She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Lett and her parents.
    Survivors include her sister, Doris Petree (Durrell) of Red Bay; a brother, Samuel L. Williams (Bettye) of Jacksonville, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers were Tony Williams, Steve Minor, Wayne Minor, Neil Willis, Billy Bolton, and Harold Strickland.
    Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
    Howard Lee Howell
    April 22, 2007
    Howard Lee Howell, 85, of Haleyville, died April 22, 2007 at his home.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday April 24 at Ninth Avenue Church of Christ in Haleyville. Bro. Andy Kizer officiated. Burial followed at Winston Memorial Cemetery.
    He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, retired from the U.S. Postal Service, and was a member of Ninth Avenue Church of Christ. He was born in Cordova, Alabama
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Delmar and Stella Viola Howell daughters. Linda Howell Batchelor, and Sandra Howell West; sisters, Nola Virginia Howell Garrison, and Merita Mae Howell,; and brothers, James Wallace Howell, and R.D. Howell.
    Survivors include a son, Stephen Howell, of Dallas, Texas; daughter. Leassia Quick, of Fayetteville, Tennessee; sister, Amelia Israel, of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Wendy Swann, Tina Isbell, Ty Batchelor, Taylor Howell, and Morgan Howell; and great-grandchildren, Sophie Batchelor, Audrey Batchelor, Mose Batchelor, Rhett Batchelor, Will Swann, and Mary Claire Swann.
    The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Ninth Avenue Church of Christ Building Fund.

    Ruby Jackson Kimbrough

    Ruby Jackson Kimbrough, 90, of Russellville, died April 22, 2007 at Russellville Hospital.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday April 24 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville, Bro. Edward Bragwell and Bro. Bennie John officiated. Burial followed in the Knights of the Pythias Cemetery.
    She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County and a member of Washington Avenue Church of Christ in Russellville. She was a cafeteria worker at College Avenue Elementary School for twenty years.
    She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her favorite past time was playing the piano and listening to gospel music. Her joy was having her family all together and sharing her laughter with everyone who knew her.
    She was preceded in death by her husband. Roy Kimbrough; her son, Charles R. Kimbrough; her parents, James Aaron and Margaret Bennie Jackson; and one sister and three brothers.
    Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Taylor Matlock (Curtis) of Russellville; grandchildren, Vicki Taylor Hill (Jim), Donna Taylor Rigby (Tim), Jimmy Taylor (Tammy), Chuck Kimbrough (Jennifer), Julie Kimbrough, and Debbie Fulmer (Keith); great-grandchildren, Jennifer Hill Whatley (Chris), Josh Mayfield, Jamie Hill, Rebecca Mayfield, Rachel Mayfield, Jacob Hill, John Michael Mayfield, Olivia Taylor, Katie Kimbrough, Chase Kimbrough, Will Kimbrough, Hannah Fulmer, and Hunter Fulmer; and a host of nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers were Josh Mayfield, Jamie Hill, Jacob Hill, John Michael Mayfield, Johnny Hamilton, Gerald Jackson, Freddie Kimbrough, and Sam Kimbrough.

    Velma Lucille Rea Benson
    April 22, 2007
    Velma Lucille Rea Benson, of Yorktown, Virginia, died April 22, 2007.
    Visitation will be held today at Spry Memorial Chapel from 4-6 p.m. The funeral service will be held Thursday April 26 at Spry Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m. Bro. Perry Taylor of Florence and Bro. Robert Brunjes of Hayes, Virginia will officiate. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Benson; a son, James D. Benson Jr.; grandson, James Lee Staggs; parents, Phineas (P.H.) AND Mina Hutcheson Rea; siblings, Herman Rea, Cassie Rea Swinney, Shellie Rea Yates, Dona Rea Abston, Elizabeth Rea Swinney, Willie Rea Swinney, Webster Rea and Alford (A.D.) Rea. Aunt Velma will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
    She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Staggs (Fred), of Yorktown, Virginia; grandson, Frederick Alan Staggs, of Chesapeake, Virginia; great grandchildren, Kendall Staggs and Jacob Staggs, of Chesapeake, Virginia.
    She was a member of Gloucester Church of Christ, Hayes, Virginia. She was born in Franklin County. Before retiring, she owned and operated Velma's Beauty Shop in Phil Campbell.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.

    Jimmie L. Gregg, 75, of Phil Campbell, died April 21, 2007.
    Visitation will be held April 26 from to 2 to 4 p.m. at Browns Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 4 p.m. April 26 with a graveside service at Union Cemetery in Newport, Tenn.
    He is survived by her sons, James (Rita) Gregg of Phil Campbell, Scott (Judith) Gregg of Rudolph, Ohio, Chris (Stephanie) Gregg of Jones Cove, Tenn.; sisters, Marjorie Francis of Newport, Tenn and Dean Alehouse of Akron, Ohio; brother, Gary (Jackie) Gregg of Texas; grandchildren, Christie, Michael, Amanda, Brandon, Michelle, Randy, Stephanie, Cody, Ashley and Michael; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Katie and Kylee.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Josephine Hensley Gregg; brothers, Claude Gregg, Jr. and Billy Joe and sisters, Estelle and Mary Alice.
