    Ludie Burrow

    Ludie Burrow, age 90, of Gardendale and formerly of Phil Campbell, passed away Monday, February 12, 2007.
    Mrs. Burrow had lived in Gardendale for the last 3 1/2 years; she was a native of Phil Campbell. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Boyce Burrow; her parents, James Kenedy and Margarett Ann Frederick Kenedy; and a son, James Boyce Burrow.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Scott Green officiating. Interment will be in Phil Campbell City Cemetery.
    Mrs. Burrow is survived by two sons, Bill Burrow and wife Louise and Wayne Burrow and wife Paula, both of Mt. Olive; four grandchildren, David Burrow and wife Brenda, of Pell City, Robert Burrow and wife Lori, of Mt. Olive, Michael Burrow and wife Nan, of Mt. Olive, and Patricia Freeman and husband Tom, of Pelham; ten great-grandchildren; a niece, Jane Ogle and husband Bill, of Brandon, MS; and a brother-in-law, George Burrow of Fresno, CA.
    The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Covenant Place and New Beacon Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Harmony Baptist Church Building Fund.
    Hazel Wilson East

    Hazel Wilson East, formerly of Russellville, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 28, 2007.
    She was a member of Katherwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Willie Frank "Bill" Wilson, and also Reuben H. East of Birmingham; and her parents, P.E. and Maudie Wells.
    Funeral services were held on January 31, 2007, at Elmwood Chapel with Rev. Dean Pesnell officiating. Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery.
    She is survived by one son, Billy A. Wilson and wife Glenda, of New Edinburg, AR; four daughters, Bobbie Martin and husband Raymond and Connie Lawson and husband Earl, both of Russellville, Betty Mathis of Birmingham, and Ann Campbell and husband John, of Pelham; four step-children, Phil East, Barbara Martin, Wanda Manning and Vickie Wilson, all of Birmingham; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Buck Wells of Blue Hill, NE; two sisters, Betty Smith and Mary Pace of Russellville; and a special nephew, Ronnie Smith.

    Anra G. Martin, age 90, of Vina, passed away Friday, February 9, 2007, at Russellville Hospital.
    Mrs. Martin was born in Alabama on October 19, 1916, to Emmitt and Millie Gober Coats. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, Lodell Martin; a son, James Wilford Martin; three sisters; and her parents.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2007, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Dan Hindman officiating. Interment was in Halltown Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Robert Martin, Jerry Thorn, Bobby Evans, Dennis Kennedy, Jackie Wingo, Darrell Wingo and Heath Thorn.
    Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughter, Joyce Goodson and husband William, of Marianna, AR; a grandson, Sonny Martin and wife Linda, of Vina; a brother, Herman Coats of Vina; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
    Elaine McCauley
    February 5, 2007
    Elaine McCauley, age 61, of Red Bay, passed away Monday, February 5, 2007, at Helen Keller Hospital.
    Mrs. McCauley was born July 30, 1945, in Itawamba County, MS, to Oscar and Iva Long Burton. She was a factory worker for 20 years and was employed as an alarm dispatcher for seven years. She was preceded in death by her husband, George O. McCauley, Jr.; her parents; and one sister, Norma Scarborough.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2007, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Coye Marbutt officiating. Interment was in Ridge Cemetery.
    Mrs. McCauley is survived by three children, Ricky White and wife Maria, of San Antonio, TX, Brian White and wife Kathy, of Hot Springs, AR, and Angela Tucker and husband Phillip, of Red Bay; one brother, Paul Burton and wife Sue, of Princeton, IN; five grandchildren, Jennifer White, Patrick Edenburn, Timothy Edenburn, Jamey Payne and Taylor Tucker; two great-grandchildren, Cadence Edenburn and Joey Edenburn; an aunt, Elouise Heavner of Red Bay; an uncle, John Long of Russellville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
    Robert Riley McMurray
    February 10, 2007
    Robert Riley McMurray, age 61, of Grant, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2007.
    Mr. McMurray was a native of Franklin County and a former resident of Huntsville. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Iler and Dowell McMurray.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2007, in Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bennie Johns and Bro. Edd Bragwell officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 10-11 a.m.
    Pallbearers will be Rodney Malone, Curtis Matthews, Darrell Malone, Vernon Malone, Tug Martin and Junior Wilson.
    Mr. McMurray is survived by an uncle, James Hubert of Huntsville; and nine cousins, Renee Grimes and husband Greg, of Grant, Rodney Malone of Charleston, SC, Vernon Malone of Muscle Shoals, Darrell Malone of Athens, Peggy Williams of Cherokee, Junior Williams of Cherokee, Roger Williams of Memphis, TN, and Shirley Cantrell and Jimmy Hutcheson, both of Kingston, TN.

    Sarah Moore

    Sarah Moore, age 58, of Phil Campbell, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2007.
    Mrs. Moore was a native of Lawrence County and a member of Vandiver Hollow Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Missouri Jackson; a daughter, Glenda Duncan; and a nephew, Billy Wayne.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2007, at Vandiver Hollow Baptist Church with Bro. Jeremy Murray officiating. Interment was in Barton Cemetery.
    Mrs. Moore is survived by four daughters, Sherry McIllwain, Mary Ressler and Diane Herron, all of Phil Campbell, and Kathy Hammerstone and husband James, of Polk City, FL; three sisters, Lucille Hopkins and husband James, of Houston, TX; Elizabeth Scott and husband Elzie, of Phil Campbell, and Lorine Murray and husband Darrell, of Russellville; two brothers, Odell Jackson of Muscle Shoals, and Robert Jackson and wife Brenda, of Cherokee; twelve grandchildren, Brittney and husband Silas, Corey, P.J., Jeremy Ray, Katie, Timothy, Sarah, Jaclyn, James, William, Katherine and Jessica; a great-grandchild, Cortney; and a host of nieces and nephews.
    A special thanks to Southern Care Hospice, and an extra-special thanks to Ruby Sheffield and nurses' aides.

    Kaitlyn Faith Quade, an infant, of Russellville, passed away Friday, February 9, 2007.
    She was the infant daughter of Robert and Melinda K. Wilson Quade.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2007, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Hollis Boyd officiating. Interment was in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.

    B.J. Tidwell

    B.J. "B.T." Tidwell, age 66, of Russellville, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, February 11, 2007, after an extended illness.
    He retired from Reynolds Metal Company, where he was employed as a machinist. He was a member of Family Worship Center in Tuscumbia. He was involved in ministry for more than 10 years with Unity Broadcasting. He preached for more than 20 years in various congregations. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John Edgar and Dessie Mae Tidwell; and a sister, Elizabeth Tidwell.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Wayne Flemings and Bro. Ronald Jones officiating. Interment will be in Old Line Cemetery in Hodges.
    Pallbearers will be Jack Coons, Justus Cole, Larry Standridge, Marvin Nix, Bill Stanley and Andy Estis. Auburn Rae will be an honorary pallbearer.
    Mr. Tidwell is survived by his wife of 40 years, Paulette Ayers Tidwell; two daughters, Jackie Evans and husband Bill, and Amanda Tidwell; three brothers and five sisters, Lucian Tidwell, Raymond Tidwell, Charles Tidwell, Olene Standridge, Evelyn Watson, Bobby Nix, Lurie Cole and Patricia Wilbanks; a brother-in-law, Rick Ayers; a grandson, Will Evans; and several nieces and nephews.
    The family would like to give special thanks to Southern Care Hospice.

    Louie Lincoln Tompkins

    Louie Lincoln Tompkins, age 83, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2007.
    Mr. Tompkins was a member of Isbell Church of Christ and a lifelong member of DAV. He was hardworking and always ready to help others. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Hamilton Tompkins; his parents, Leighton Henry and Evelyn Taylor Tompkins; and four brothers, Leslie, P.J., Lance "Bill," and Oscar Tompkins.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. George Hutto officiating. Interment was in Hamilton Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Mr. Tompkins' nephews.
    Mr. Tompkins is survived by two daughters, Judy James of Tuscumbia and Debbie Feltman and husband David, of Belgreen; a sister, Betty Brock and husband Byron, of Chelsea; three grandchildren, Misty Allen of Belgreen, Dana Smith and husband Marty, of Decatur, and Lesa Feltman of Belgreen; a great-grandson, Caleb Smith of Decatur; and a host of nieces and nephews.
    The family is extremely grateful for all the support of family and friends for their prayers and visits during Louie's illness.

    Susie Mae Vandiver, age 88, of Leighton, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2007.
    Mrs. Vandiver was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Vandiver; her parents, Ed and Effie McGuire; and a brother, Edward McGuire.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Grant Caldwell officiating. Interment was in Tharptown Cemetery.
    Pallbearers were Mike Loyd, Stanley Hall, Donnie McGuire, Jimmy Montgomery, Bryan Vandiver, Dale Galloway and Stephen Hall.
    Mrs. Vandiver is survived by a son, Norman Vandiver and wife JoAnn, of Leighton; a step-son, Billy James Vandiver and wife Louise, of Leighton; two brothers, Eugene McGuire of Tharptown, and Ollie McGuire and wife Peggy, of Tharptown; two sisters, Corine Clark of Brunswick, OH, and Louise Harrison and husband Billy, of Tharptown; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

    Travis C. Wilson, age 85, of Phil Campbell, passed away Sunday, February 4, 2007.
    Mr. Wilson was a native of Phil Campbell and a member of the Baptist Church. He was employed as a backhoe operator and was a member of the Merchant Marines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Forney and Hattie Mae Wilson; a son, Terry Wilson; a daughter, Joyce Ann Hester; a sister, Flo Lyon; and a brother, Billy Wilson.
    Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mark Daniels officiating. Interment was in Shady Grove Cemetery.
    Mr. Wilson is survived by a son, Jerry Wilson and wife Vanessa, of Phil Campbell; a daughter, Wanda Lindsey of Gardendale; seven sisters, Velma Castle of Hueytown, Martha Damron of Phoenix, AZ, Doris Terranova of Clifton, PA, Betty Service of Decatur, Ann Saint and husband Burns, of Russellville, Sue King and husband Billy Earl, of Haleyville, and Linda Devaney and husband Uearldine, of Muscle Shoals; a brother, Melvin "Buster" Wilson and wife Peggy, of Russellville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
