By Staff
from staff reports
MONTGOMERY – Representative Johnny Mack Morrow, D-Red Bay, has been re-appointed as Judiciary Chair for the Alabama House of Representatives on Tuesday. Morrow has held the position since 2003.
"I am very honored that the Speaker provided me the opportunity to continue serving as Tourism and Travel chair," said Morrow.
"The tourism industry is extremely important to our state. It generates billions in revenue, and creates thousands of jobs. I plan to continue working hard to make sure that people come and see all that our state has to offer."
The Tourism and Travel Committee is responsible for reviewing all bills that affect Alabama's tourism industry, recreational and sports facilities, alcoholic beverage regulations, and gambling.
"Representative Morrow is an invaluable asset to the Alabama House of Representatives," said Speaker Seth Hammett, D-Andalusia. "Since being appointed as Tourism chair, he has worked tirelessly to promote our state, and I am confident that his dedication will only grow over the next four years."
Morrow, a retired educator, was elected in 1990.
He received his B.S. in Agricultural Economics from Mississippi State University, and M.B.A. in Business Administration from Samford University.
Following the conclusion of the organizational session, the Alabama House of Representatives will reconvene on Tuesday, March 6 for the first legislative day of the 2007 regular session.
