Egbert E. "Eddie" Ayers, age 82, of Russellville, passed away Monday, December 11, 2006, at his residence.
Mr. Ayers lived all his life in Franklin County and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a Mason (Lodge #371, Russellville) and retired from the Navy with 20 years of service. He served in law enforcement in north Alabama for several years. Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ayers; and eight brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville. Interment will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Mr. Ayers is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Ayers; four daughters, Shirley Tompkins and husband Roger, Debra Hollimon and husband Roger, Brenda Ayers, and Rebecca Hines and husband Roger, all of Russellville; a step-sister, Joyce Turbyfill of Hazel Green; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special canine companion, J.J.

Sybil Bendall

Sybil Bendall, age 84, of Russellville, passed away Monday, December 11, 2006.
Mrs. Bendall was a native of Franklin County and a member of Jonesboro Baptist Church in Russellville. She was employed as a cafeteria worker for the Russellville School System. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Flosey Duncan; her husband, Gresham "Buck" Bendall; and her siblings.
Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. in Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Johnny Richardson and Bro. Jackie Richardson officiating. Interment will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
Mrs. Bendall is survived by a son, Jimmy Bendall and wife Judy, of Northport; a daughter, Rebecca Richardson and husband Charles, of Spruce Pine; two grandchildren, Julie Ramm and Amy Suddith; and five great-grandchildren, Hayden Suddith, Brett Suddith, Chelsea Suddith, Madison Grace Ramm and Jacob Ramm.

William Thomas Dodd

William Thomas Dodd, age 69, of Lynn, passed away Friday, December 8, 2006, at Lakeland Community Hospital.
Mr. Dodd was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one daughter.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 10, 2006, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Tommy McDowell officiating. Interment was in Concord Cemetery.
Mr. Dodd is survived by four sons, three daughters, one brother, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alpha Omega Elliott

Alpha Omega Elliott, age 86, of Haleyville, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006, at Haleyville Health Care.
Mrs. Elliott was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Berry, and Mary Berry Tittle and Jim Tittle; three sisters, Alta Taylor, Helen Prince and Eula Farr; and two brothers, Russell Berry and Ozie Berry.
Funeral services were held on Friday, December 8, 2006, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Bro. Ron Horton officiating. Interment was in Macedonia Cemetery.
Mrs. Elliott is survived by her husband, Burdis S. Elliott; four children, Wanda Lee Hess of Haleyville, Linda Sue Kirk of California, Mary Frances Harbin of Haleyville and Ricky Gene Elliott of Tennessee; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Ernie O. Elliott

Ernie O. Elliott, age 82, of Vina, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2006, at ECM Hospital.
Mr. Elliott was born June 8, 1924, in Vina, to G.W. and Nora Massey Elliott. He was a science teacher at Vina High School for 20 years and Franklin County Assistant Superintendent for four years. After he retired from teaching, he was the mail carrier for Vina for several years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Red Bay, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Carl Elliott, Gober Elliott, Hoyt Elliott and Ernest Elliott; and two sisters, Jewel Peters and Willie Mae McKinney.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Jonathan McKinney officiating. Interment was in Burnout Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mr. Elliott's nephews, George Carpenter, Phil Williams, Owen Peters, Buzz McKinney, Jimmy Elliott and Charles Nail.
Mr. Elliott is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pauline "Polly" Elliott; three children, Joyce Gray of Burnout, Lynda Fowler and husband Tim, of Burnout, and Steve Elliott and wife Viki, of Seattle, WA; two sisters, Mabel Carpenter of Tuscumbia and Jean Williams of Florence; and eight grandchildren, Ryan Gray of New Orleans, Lance Gray of Florence, Carly Hellums and husband Brent, T.J. Fowler and Tony Jennings, all of Vina, and Destiny Elliott, Sarah Elliott and Jeremy Elliott, all of Los Angeles, CA.

Karen Ann (Belue) Hunter, age 60, of Sheffield, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2006.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, at Whitehead Cemetery in Lauderdale County with Pastor Marty Kelly officiating.
Mrs. Hunter is survived by her husband, Jeff Hunter; two daughters, Cherryl Crosby and Cynthia Stonecipher; one son, Darrell Stonecipher; and a grandson, Chad Crosby.

Ruth Elizabeth Mitchell

Ruth Elizabeth Mitchell, age 80, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2006, at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.
Mrs. Mitchell was a native of Birmingham but had lived in Russellville for the past three years. She was a member of the Baptist Church and was retired from Elberta Liquidation Business. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest E. Mitchell; and a grandson, Timothy Yocom.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Cherry Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Cherry Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by a son, Charles Norman Mitchell of Russellville; two daughters, Norma Benefield of Phil Campbell and Nellie Riley of Russellville; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Burgett Moore, age 72, of Golden, MS, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at Helen Keller Hospital.
Mrs. Moore was born August 19, 1934, in Franklin County to Louis Thomas and Lena Mae Files Burgett. She was a cashier and cook at Jr. Food Mart. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alfred "Buck" Burgett; and a son, Jimmy Lambert.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2006, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mark McCraney officiating.
Interment was in Holly Springs Cemetery in Hodges.
Mrs. Moore is survived by four children, Sandi Simmons and husband Ray, of Elizabethton, TN, David Lambert and wife Vicki, of Tishomingo, MS, Terri Thorn and husband Rex, of Golden, MS, and Julie Raper and husband Eric, of Red Bay; four sisters, Johnnie Jaehne of Kenosha, WI, Bonnie Beard of Atwood, Ann Wood and husband Claudie, of Belmont, MS, and Vickie Evans and husband Jerry, of Hackleburg; one brother, Allen Burgett and wife Margaret, of Killen; fourteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pineda was a native of El Salvador but had lived in Russellville for the past 2 ? years.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Russellville. Interment was in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Pineda is survived by her husband, Pedro E. Pineda; two sons, Pedro S. Pineda and Jonethan Pineda, both of Russellville; a daughter, Lillian Del Carmon Castillo of Russellville; her father, Armando Jimenez of Atlanta; and her mother, Rosibel Castillo of Russellville.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her husband, Tim Wilson; her mother, Mary Staggs of Russellville; her father, Frank Staggs of Abilene, TX; two sisters, Anita Staggs of Russellville and Laura May of Tuscumbia; one brother, David Staggs of Houston, TX; an uncle, Charles Staggs; four aunts, Dorothy Simpson, Bessie Searcy, Rachel Heathcoat and Betty Stephenson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
