RED BAY – The Red Bay City Council approved a bid to build the new city hall during the regular council meeting held Monday night.
They received six bids to construct the new city hall. Burton Builders in Belmont, Miss. placed the lowest bid. The bid amount is $534,700, Burt Hankins of Goodwin, Mills &Cawood, Inc., said.
"This is for the finished product from the building to the landscaping," Hankins added.
Construction should start sometime in January, allowing for the holidays.
The contractor will have six months to complete the project, making it July before the city is in their new building, Hankin told the council.
The bid does not include the police station. Goodwin, Mills &Cawood, Inc. will begin to advertise for bids in early to mid December for the police station.
They expect to start receiving bids for that project in January, Hankin said.
