Fall has arrived–and we are thankful!

By Staff
Saturday marks the official beginning of autumn, and it has already started to feel like fall in Franklin County this week.
Fall is many people's favorite season on the calendar. Here are a few reasons why we, too, enjoy this time of the year:
The weather.
After months of enduring the stifling heat of a long, dry summer, we find the cooler weather that we've already begun to experience a refreshing change.
There's nothing quite like stepping out your door on a cool autumn morning or taking in a football game on a crisp Friday night……. which brings us to another of our favorite things about fall:
Football.
What would this time of year be without the game we all love so much? This is football country, and football, whether played on Friday nights, Saturday afternoons, or Sunday in the backyard, was meant to be played during the fall.
The changing leaves.
Soon the leaves in Franklin County will turn from their usual shade of green into a dazzling display of red, yellow and orange and then begin to fall into colorful piles all around.
The task of raking leaves is hardly a task at all, as it affords us the opportunity to take in the wonderful sights and smells of the fall season.
The holidays are near.
One of the best things about fall is that the cooler weather and changing leaves remind us that Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner. Bring on the holiday season!
Remember, the official first day of fall is tomorrow, and we hope you all are as excited about it as we are!
