Auburn's Sears won't return for LSU game

By Staff
From staff reports
Suspended linebackers Kevin Sears and Tray Blackmon will not be back on the field for this weekend's showdown between No. 3 Auburn and No. 6 LSU, Tiger coach Tommy Tuberville said on Sunday.
Both Sears, a Russellville graduate, and Blackmon have said they have no idea when they will return and that Tuberville has said nothing to them about their suspensions.
The two linebackers' status "hasn't changed," Tuberville said in brief comments to reporters Sunday afternoon.
Before the season, Tuberville said the linebackers would be out for "several" games, but he has offered no details and avoided commenting on the lengths of their suspensions.
The absence of the two linebackers hasn't been a major issue in Auburn's first two games of the season, easy wins over Washington State and Mississippi State.
This week, the Tigers (2-0, 1-0 SEC) may need all hands on deck as they host LSU (2-0) in a game that will go a long way toward deciding who wins the SEC West and who will remain in the hunt for a national championship.
Two years ago, Auburn defeated LSU 10-9 at Jordan-Hare Stadium and went on to a 13-0 season. Last year, LSU won in Baton Rouge and went on to win the SEC West title.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
