More than a dozen Russellville High School students will be traveling to California in June to attend the National Leadership Conference of the Health Occupation Students of America.
The students earned the right to attend by being winners at the state HOSA competition that was held at Wallace State Community College in March.
The conference honors future healthcare leaders from across the nation and provides them with an opportunity to celebrate their state and local successes. Students will also have a chance to demonstrate their knowledge and skills through the National Competitive Events program.
Sparks thanked RHS and city school board officials for their support, and noted that the coast of the trip would be approximately $800 per student.
Students will take part in general sessions, educational and social learning activities, leadership academies, professional workshops, tours to healthcare facilities. They will also view exhibits presented by professional healthcare associations.
This year's conference will be held at the Anaheim Hilton and the Anaheim Marriott, Anaheim, Calif., June 21-24.
The state competition winners from RHS who will attend the national conference are:
