McAlister Named Young Man of Year

Thomas B. McAlister, prominent Russellville merchant, Monday night received the Jaycees &#8220Young Man of the Year” Award at the first annual civic banquet held in the Veterans Home.
Joining Hands in a sign of co-operative civic leadership, the Pilot Club, Civitan Club, Lions Club and Junior Chamber of Commerce hope to make the banquet an annual affair.
County Lashed by Heavy Rains
Franklin County was lashed by winds, heavy rains and severe thunderstorms Tuesday night, but no damage was reported early Wednesday morning.
Grady Webb, Franklin Electric Co-Operatives manager, said a few lines were knocked out &#8220here and there,” but nothing unusual was reported.
City Electric Manager Gene Weatherby said only one line to a house had been reported knocked out in the city.
