Dr. E. Wayne Reynolds passed away Friday after an extended illness.
"He was a wonderful person whom I loved very much," said Dr. Reynolds' wife of 22 years, Mrs. Truby Reynolds. "He had a great affection for Russellville. It really was his home."
Dr. Reynolds began his practice in Russellville in 1950 after graduating from Howard College in Birmingham and the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, where he was salutatorian of his class. In recent years, he was honored by the American Optometric Association and the Alabama Optometric Association for his continuing years of service. Dr. Reynolds was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa International Honorary Fraternity.
Dr, Reynolds was born in Toledo, Ohio. He grew up in Elkhart, Ind., and graduated from Elkhart High School. He served in the United States Air Force for five years, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Dr. Reynolds was a member of Saint John's Episcopal Church in Elkhart, and First Baptist Church of Russellville.
"His optometry office was next door to mine for five or six years until he retired," said Russellville chiropractor Dr. Tim Bishop. "Dr. Reynolds always kept a positive outlook. He loved people and had a zest for life."
Services were held at Akins Funeral Home chapel in Russellville. Bro. Wayne Kilpatrick and Bro. Toney Chaney officiated. Pallbearers were members of the T. R. Pritchard Sunday school class.
Memorials may be made to the Tennessee Valley Hospice, 200 W. Tennessee St., Florence.
