Council tables hiring again

For the second time, the Russellville City Council voted Monday night to table the hiring of a Park and Recreation Department supervisor.
The appointment has been listed on the agenda at two recent meetings. Previously when the action was tabled, councilmen said it was to allow time to interview each of the three finalists again. On Monday, Councilman Craig Grissom said the problem was a pair of conflicting job descriptions.
"We revised the job description when (former Park and Rec superintendent) Jackie (Bradford) left," Grissom said. "At the meeting Monday night, there was a question of whether or not the Civil Service Board had the correct version when they submitted the list of three finalists to us. We thought it was best to wait and make sure everything was correct before making a decision."
Grissom said he hopes the council will be able to make a decision at its next meeting.
In other action Monday, the council appointed Bruce Daily and Chad Sheffield as police patrol officers. In another police matter, Betty O'Neal addressed the council
regarding her concern about 4-wheelers being driven on private property in her neighborhood.
