Council names board members

The Phil Campbell city council appointed Stephen Sampson and Deon Hill to the Industrial Board at Tuesday night's regular meeting.
Sampson and Hill are replacing Jerry Mays, who is now the town's mayor, and Greg Beasley, who is now serving on another board.
In other personnel matters, the council reappointed Denny Hagood to the Water and Sewer Board.
The council also hired Danny Cleveland as a sanitation/street department employee. He started work for the city on Thursday.
The council also announced that John Cheek, a part-time police officer, has left to work for the county sheriff's department.
In other business, the council passed a motion to purchase four tables and 24 chairs for the recreation center.
The council also passed a motion to post No Loitering signs at the new ball park.
Finally, the council passed a motion to pay the bills due.
The next regularly scheduled city council meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 1.
