Public hearing on solid waste ordinance set for Monday

The Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing Monday at 5:30 p.m. to consider an increase in fines for illegally dumping solid waste in the county's green boxes.
Supervisors are considering fines for illegally dumping residential garbage: up to $100 for the first offense; $200 for the second offense; and up to $500 and/or six months in jail for the third offense.
For illegally dumping non-residential garbage, supervisors are considering: a first-offense fine of $500; a second offense fine of $750; and a third offense fine of up to $1,000 and/or six months in jail.
The public hearing will be held in the boardroom of the Raymond P. Davis Courthouse Annex, 410 Constitution Ave.
