Best of luck to playoff teams

By Staff
It's hard to believe, but the football playoffs are here!
Need proof? The weather is turning cold, Thanksgiving is on the horizon, and the Russellville Golden Tigers and Red Bay Tigers are fixing their sights firmly on that elusive state championship.
We want to wish those playoff teams well as they begin their quest for a state title tonight, but first we want to say a word of congratulations to all four of our high school football teams in Franklin County.
The Phil Campbell Bobcats made major strides this year and came up just one win short of making the playoffs in their first season in Class 2A, Region 8. Three of Phil Campbell's losses were by a touchdown or less.
Coach Kelly Kiser and his staff should be proud of what their players have accomplished.
The Vina Red Devils had their best season in years, finishing with five wins and barely missing out on the playoffs. Congratulations to Bill Smith, his coaching staff, and the Red Devil players on an outstanding season.
The new season begins tonight for both Russellville and Red Bay. The Golden Tigers climbed to the No. 1 ranking in Class 5A this week, and they will go in search of their 10th straight win tonight when they host the Gadsden Tigers. We wish coach Perry Swindall, his staff, and the Golden Tiger players good luck as they pursue a state title.
We would like to congratulate Dale Jeffreys and his Red Bay Tigers on putting together a perfect 10-0 regular season. The Tigers' quest for a state championship gets underway tonight when they entertain the West End Patriots in the first round of the 2A state playoffs.
Congratulations to all of our football teams for fine seasons, and good luck to Red Bay and Russellville as they chase a state championship. We hope to continue covering football for five more weeks!
