Wayne County rolls past Lawerence County

WAYNESBORO The Wayne County War Eagles advanced to second-round play in the South State 4A football playoffs with a 34-0 win over outmanned Lawrence County here Friday night.
Wayne County will host Laurel (6-4-1) next Friday night. Laurel won a 21-14 overtime thriller over Vancleave Thursday.
Wayne County scored all five of their touchdowns in the first 13 minutes of the game in improving their record to 11-0 on the season. It was also their 17th straight win over the last two seasons.
The War Eagles ran only 12 plays in the opening 13 minutes to take the 34-0 lead.
In the opening half, LC rushed for 17 yards on 22 carries and passed for 1 yard.
WC passed for 193 yards in the opening half and ran for 67 yards on 13 totes.
Johnson was 6-of-7 passing for 162 yards and three scores. Pugh led the receivers with two catches for 65 yards while Ray snatched two passes for 45 yards. Everette led the WC rushers with 4 rushes for 38 yards.
Stephen Chambers relieved Johnson and completed one pass in three attempts. Chambers hit Jacques McBride on a 31-yard strike.
