Spargur named Star's ad director

Veteran newspaper advertising executive Thomas Spargur has been named advertising director of The Meridian Star, publisher Paul Barrett announced today.
Spargur, originally from Ohio, began his career in sales. He comes to The Star with more than 25 years of newspaper leadership and advertising experience, including jobs as advertising director, general manager, regional sales director and publisher for Gannett, Thomson Newspapers and Colorado Community Newspapers. He also has worked at newspapers in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Colorado.
Spargur has received several awards, including one for the highest revenue increases while working for The Thomson Division of Ohio/Pennsylvania Strategic Marketing Group. He also has developed new niche publications, including two separate weekly newspapers for markets in Colorado.
