Air Force Airman 1st Class Torrie S. Morris has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
During six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies, performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate's degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Morris is the son of Delois Morris and the nephew of Loretta Robinson, both of Meridian. He is a 2001 graduate from Meridian High School and received an associate's degree in 2003 from Meridian Community College.
Charles E. Williams has been promoted to the rank of sergeant E-5 effective July 14.
He is currently assigned to Headquarters Battery 2nd Battalion, 114th Artillery, Counter Mortar Radar Section as radar repairman and radar operator.
He is currently stationed at Camp Shelby, undergoing training for deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Williams was transferred from HHB, 1st Battalion, 204th Air Defense Artillery of Decatur and has 12 years service in the Mississippi Army National Guard.
This is his first mobilization and deployment.
Williams is married to Rachel M. Williams and the father of a son, Nathan, 7, of Meridian. He is a 1993 graduate of Newton County High School.
