Mr. Herring, 32, of Waynesboro, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, in his home.
Survivors include his mother, June Pitts of Waynesboro; a daughter, Ashton Herring of Hattiesburg; a sister, Amanda Cooley of Waynesboro; a step-brother, Todd Pitts of Jackson; and grandmothers, Louise Herring of Meridian, Ruth Morgan and Wilma Pitts, both of Waynesboro; and several aunts, uncles and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, Danny Herring; and a step-brother, Anthony Ryan Pitts.
PHILADELPHIA Graveside services for Navies Irene Johnson will be held today at 10 a.m. at Johnson Family Cemetery in the Good Hope Community with the Rev. Tony Blanchard officiating. McClain-Hayes Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Johnson, 86, of Philadelphia, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at Heartfelt Hospice in Meridian.
Survivors include her sons, Daniel Johnson of Philadelphia and David Johnson of Florence; a daughter, Sylvia Franklin of Philadelphia; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Myra Jane Moore of Ridgeland; and a brother, Ned Moorehead of Pascagoula.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Exo Johnson.
Visitation will be held today from 8 a.m.-9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
QUITMAN Services for Ruth Virginia Burt will be held today at 11 a.m. at Clarke County Baptist Center with the Revs. Grady Crowell and C.C. Burns officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Church cemetery with Wright's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Burt, 84, of Quitman, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her sons, Raymond Stewart of Arkadelphia, Ark., Billy Stewart of Quitman, Freddie Burt of Meridian and Ricky Burt of Pascagoula; daughters, Jackie Hyatt of Starks, La., Cathy Bradley of Ocean Springs and Fredna Doggett of Waynesboro; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Burt; a son, Ronnie Burt; daughters, Faye Rasco Roberts and Betty Jordan; and her parents, Emmanuel Ivey and Epsyann Virginia Quimby.
Pallbearers will be Steven Hyatt, Scott Hyatt, Justin Doggett, Daniel Hyatt, Jason Doggett and Charles Gordon.
Visitation will be held today at 9 a.m. at the Clarke County Baptist Center.
PHILADELPHIA Graveside services for Arthur Dewaine Mott will be held today at 11 a.m. at Herbert Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Williams officiating. McClain-Hayes Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mott, 78, of Bessemer, Ala., died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, at Self Nursing Home in Hueytown, Ala. He was an Army veteran and he served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Doris W. Mott of Bessemer, Ala.; daughters, Rita Chandler of Hueytown, Ala. and Geneva Murray of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; four grandchildren; and sisters, Frances Tindol of Philadelphia and Lois Montgomery of Bogalusa, La.
The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Ireland Way, Birmingham, AL 35205.
PHILADELPHIA Services for Ona Nowell will be held today at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hayes Funeral Service chapel with the Revs. Mark Gill and Harvey King officiating. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery.
Mrs. Nowell, 89, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004, at Leake Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
Survivors include her daughters, Fran Whitt of Conyers, Ga. and Betty Clark of Carthage; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Lillie Hicks of Forest; and brothers, Leon King of Carthage and R.B. King of Choctaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Nowell.
