Quitman remains undefeated in division

The Quitman High School Lady Panthers remained undefeated in the Division 5-4A standings Tuesday night with a 14-4 victory over homestanding Wayne County.
Quitman scored three in the first, five in the second, two in the third and four in the sixth. Wayne County answered with one in the second, one in the third, one in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Quitman outhit Wayne County 18-6. Anna Lauren Fontenot led Quitman with two doubles and three RBIs. Constance Jones nailed two singles and a double and three RBIs, while Jessica Creighton had two doubles and two RBIs.
Quitman will be in action Saturday with long road trip that sees the Lady Panthers visit Northeast Lauderdale and West Lauderdale.

Enterprise 6
The Enterprise High School Lady Bulldogs had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but visiting Philadelphia came up with a big play to claim a 9-5 victory Tuesday night in prep slow-pitch softball action.
"We were down 9-1 going into the seventh," said Enterprise coach Kacie Luebbers. "We could have given up, but our girls didn't.
"We scored five runs and loaded the bases. Philadelphia came up with a play to beat us, but I was really proud of our team. They did not quit."
Enterprise falls to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the division.

Newton County 9
Morton 3
Newton County's slow-pitch softball team defeated Morton 9-3 on Tuesday to improve its record to 5-5.
Kasi Buckley and Chassidy Smith each tallied two hits for Newton County, and Megan Munn hit a double in the win.
The NCHS Lady Cougars visit West Lauderdale for a division game Thursday at 7 p.m.
