Meridian Community College psychology instructor Jeannette Murphey can add another item to her curriculum vitae test bank author.
She has written five book reviews in the span of two years and has made five contributions to "Teaching Tips for Lifespan Development." So when she was approached to author a chapter of the test bank for the second edition of "Psychology: A Journey," she was honored to perform the task.
The supplement is for instructors to use to make out their tests for their classes and is only available for instructors who adopt Dennis Coon's "Psychology: A Journey," second edition.
MCC is mentioned throughout the book and that includes a description of the college in the introduction.
Writing test questions is old hat for Murphey; it was a skill she gained at her first job at Mississippi State University's veterinary school. "I edited test questions for educational resources," she said.
Murphey is a 15-year veteran at MCC teaching psychology. She earned her doctorate in educational psychology from MSU and is a nationally certified school psychologist.
In addition, she has also served as a mental health counselor and a psychological examiner with the Mississippi State Department of Education.
Her awards include the Lamplighter Award for Community College Teaching; the Young Woman of the Year Award for Lauderdale County; the Achieve-MS Model Teacher for Problem Based Learning; MCC Outstanding Teacher of the Year; and MCC's Good Practices in Teaching and Innovations in Teaching Awards.
Murphey has been married for 29 years to Joey Murphey, who is the administrative superintendent and dairy researcher at the MSU Coastal Plain Branch Experiment Station in Newton.
They have two sons, Jay, a 21-year-old college student, and Justin, 15, a high school student and lead guitarist for a local band.
