NEWTON Services for Lelar Mae Davis will be held today at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home with the Revs. Frank Morgan and Larry Duncan officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis, 83, of Decatur, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at Hilltop Manor in Union. She was born in Newton County and was a devoted wife and mother and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, William H. "Pete" Davis of Decatur; three sons, Jerry Baucum and his wife, Lynda, of Forest, Billy H. Davis and his wife, Vicky, of Decatur, and David Davis and his wife, Tina, of Lake; a daughter, Dianne Devine and her husband, Billy Earl, of Decatur; a brother, Dewey "Bo" McCrory of Decatur; three grandchildren, Miranda Davis, Quinton Davis and Jamison Davis; and a great-grandchild, Dillon Devine.
She was preceded in death by a husband, Otis Baucum; a grandson, Jeff Devine; a brother, Charles McCrory; and a sister, Maudine Brand.
Pallbearers will be Van Lucus, J.B. Edwards, Hubert Richardson, Wayne Nelson, Wendell Nelson, Jeff May, Royce Richardson, and Mike Richardson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Carr, Glen Parker, Gerald Mosley, and Frank Pickle.
Visitation will be from 7:30 a.m. today until service time at the funeral home.
PHILADELPHIA Services for Mary E. Calloway will be held today at 11 a.m. at Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James L. Osby officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. John E. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Calloway, 91, of Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at Neshoba General Hospital.
Survivors include four sons, W.C. Calloway of Detroit, Lawrence Calloway and Laymon Calloway, both of Philadelphia, and Lewis Calloway of Moss Point; 29 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
DEKALB Services for Sam "Bolt" Houston will be held today at 1 p.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Bass officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery with E.E. McDonald Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Houston, 78, of DeKalb, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his children, Lloyd H. Houston and his wife, Wanda, of Cleveland, Alice Burton and her husband, Luther, of Toomsuba, Lizzie Willis and her husband, Ben, of Collinsville; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Houston of DeKalb; and a sister, Willie Lee Johnson of East St. Louis, Ill.; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a son.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
