Newton County officials investigate
death of Scott County man

Newton County Sheriff Jackie Knight said today his office is continuing its investigation into the death of a Scott County man whose body was found early Friday on McDonald Road.
Knight said the body of Corey Wells, age and address unavailable, was discovered between 4:30 a.m. and 4:45 a.m. on the side of McDonald Road. Knight said Wells died of a gunshot wound.
Knight declined to discuss any more details including the location of the gunshot wound and whether Wells' family members have been interviewed in the investigation.
The Newton County Sheriff's Department is working the case with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations. If anyone has any information, they can contact Knight's office at 635-2101.
