Rush offers class on healthy eating

Rush Foundation Hospital is offering a new class to the public called "Eat Right for Life."
The class focuses on prevention of and nutritional treatment for hypertension and heart disease. The class is appropriate for people with high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, heart disease or high cholesterol.
Participants will learn the latest research and information on nutritional guidelines for these health problems. The DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) and American Heart Association diets will be discussed.
Recipes, eating out and understanding nutrition labeling are some of the things that will be covered in the class.
The class will be offered twice each month and is taught by Rush registered dietitians. There is a $15 fee per participant.
Classes will be offered Tuesday, Aug. 10, from 5:30 p.m.- 6:30 p.m., and Thursday, Aug. 19, from 3 p.m.- 4 p.m. Other classes also will be offered in September.
