Southeast young but talented

The Southeast Lauderdale slow-pitch softball team will depend on young but experienced players this season.
After coming two outs short of advancing to the third round of the 3A state playoffs last year, the Tigers are looking to build on that success with a team that has no seniors.
The team will rely on good defense on the infield this season.
Juniors Lindsey Graham and Heather Ward will be two of the leaders on the infield. Graham will handle the shortstop duties, and Ward has started at third base since her eighth-grade season.
Megan McMullen will be at first base, and Jessica Rose and Tiffany Roulier should both see time at second base.
The Tigers are also looking for a little more offense this year.
In the outfield, the Tigers are a little more inexperienced, but Miller is expecting several players to step in and play well.
Junior Eli Bowen and freshman Lucy Ruffin will be in the outfield along with eighth grader Laci Maxwell, junior Mallory Bowen and sophomore Abby Havard.
Rose, who is a freshman and has started at second base for the Tigers since her seventh-grade year, will also see some time in the outfield for Southeast.
Sierra Hinson will see time at second base and will also play in the outfield for the Tigers this year.
Roulier and sophomore Andrea Wilson will catch this year for third-year starting pitcher Heather Harper.
Southeast will play a tough schedule with a district schedule that includes visits to West Lauderdale and Newton County. Carthage, Morton, Forest and Choctaw Central are also in the division with the Tigers.
The Tigers will compete for one of the top four spots in the district to advance to the postseason.
