Riley Hospital is hosting the Seventh Annual Riley Bear Children's Health Fair today at Bonita Lakes Mall when Riley volunteers stationed in the mall court in front of J.C. Penney and McRae's will be on hand to make sure children are ready for the new school year.
Classes for Meridian Public School District students start Thursday. The Lauderdale County School District will start classes Aug. 9.
Amy Boutwell, marketing director for Riley Hospital, said Friday that vital information will be available to parents at the fair regarding their children's health and safety.
Screenings for school readiness will be offered for middle ear problems, and mental health problems for children and adolescents. Information will be available on car seat safety, underage drinking, bicycle safety, fire prevention, diabetes and childhood lead poisoning.
