The 2004 MGA Mid Amateur Championship tees off this morning at the Northwood Country Club.
It is the second time the state-wide golf tournament will be held at the Meridian golf course, and the tourney will be completed on Sunday.
The Mid Amateur will draw 65 golfers, ages 25 and older, to the 6,500-yard, 71-par course for the four-day event.
Gamblin said a few golfers to keep your eye on include Judge Little, Johnny Lang, Scott Morgan, Ricky Sims, Doug Parkers, Bobby Maddox and 10-time state amateur champion Mike Taylor.
Taylor may not be able to play in the Mid Amateur because his father-in-law is ill.
While the golfers get to show of their skills on the links, the Mid Amateur also gives Northwood a chance to introduce new people to its facilities.
It also gives Northwood a chance to show the strength of its club members to competitors from around the state.
The stroke-play tournament starts at 8 a.m. today, with the last group teeing off at 10:40 a.m.
