Lauderdale County man struck by car, killed

A 30-year-old Lauderdale County man was killed late Friday when he was struck by a car on Highway 496 in southeast Lauderdale County.
Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler said the man, whose name was not released pending notification of family, was apparently walking across the street on Highway 496 near Murphy Road when he was struck.
The accident happened around 9 p.m. and the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department and other local emergency workers responded to the accident.
Cobler said the man died after his head struck the windshield of the car. A passenger in the vehicle was taken to a local hospital.
