70th anniversary
Roy and Lovene Smith will celebrate their 70th anniversary today with a reception from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at Center Ridge Baptist Church. The couple requests no gifts please.
58th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Clark were married on July 14, 1946.
Pictured with the Clarks is Paul Augustus Dent Jr. Mrs. Clark was formerly Willye "Bill" Catledge Dent. Paul Jr. is the son of Paul A. Dent Sr. of Macon, who died in an auto accident prior to the birth of Paul Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Clark have two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. They will celebrate their 58th anniversary quietly at home in Meridian.
50th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Wayne Ethridge will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Sunday, July 18, 2004, with a reception hosted by their children, at Collinsville Community Center from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. The couple have four children Susan Bobo, Wayne Ethridge, Ken Ethridge and the late Teri Al-Hajiri and eight grandchildren. The Ethridges married July 9, 1954, at the home of the bride's parents in Starkville. Mrs. Ethridge is the former Pat Steverson. Mr. Ethridge is retired from vocational rehabilitation and Mrs. Ethridge is retired from Weems Mental Health Center. The couple requests no gifts.
50th anniversary
Bruce and Jeanie Haggard, formerly of Meridian, were
married on June 26, 1954, in London, England. Mr.
Haggard was serving a tour of duty at the American Embassy. They have three children, Debbie H. Smith and her husband, Clay; Vickie H. Smith and her husband, Gary;
and Ricky Haggard and his wife, Kim. They have seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The Haggard's children surprised them with a weekend at New Orleans' Ashton House Bed and Breakfast and a jazz dinner cruise on the Natchez Riverboat. They also hosted a party to
celebrate their parents' anniversary with family and friends. The Haggards currently reside in Baton Rouge, La.
37th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Mack Phillips celebrated their 37th anniversary on July 2, 2004. The couple was married on July 2, 1967, at Fairhaven Baptist Church in Demopolis, Ala. The Phillips have three children, Tanya Spears and her husband, Steven; Michael Phillips and his wife, Tara Smithey Phillips; and Paul Phillips of the Kansas City Royals, Omaha Triple A baseball team. Mr. Phillips in employed with the 186th Air National Guard Civil Service at Key Field. He is currently serving in Turkey. Mrs. Phillips is employed at West Lauderdale Elementary School.
