The Meridian Police Department continues to investigate the "suspicious death" of Leota Brunson, an 83-year-old Meridian woman who was found dead in her apartment last month.
Brunson's body was discovered by a neighbor in the Olde Poplar Place Apartments, 3906 Poplar Springs Drive, on June 17. Officers discovered a broken window in Brunson's apartment when they arrived at the scene, which initially made them suspicious about the cause of Brunson's death.
MPD later interviewed 15 people in an attempt to find more information.
Preliminary autopsy results released nearly two weeks ago did not determine a specific cause of death, but did rule out Brunson being shot, stabbed, suffocated, smothered or strangled, according to MPD.
In a few weeks, MPD is expected to receive toxicology lab results from the autopsy to help determine an exact cause of death.
