A tree lay across the home of Kathryn McBride at 3110 36th St. on Thursday, a day after strong winds from a thunderstorm blew down the tree. The tree used to stand near a drainage canal that feeds into Gallagher Creek near McBride's home. McBride said she feels lucky to be alive because she was at home watching television when the tree fell. McBride said she has insurance on her home, but she is not sure if it will cover the more than $7,000 it will cost to remove the tree.
