The Meridian Police Department is asking the public to help find El Greco Warren, 27, who is wanted for aggravated assault on a police officer.
Det. Dean Harper, an MPD spokesman, said that on May 27, an MPD officer tried to arrest Warren after a vehicle and foot pursuit. Warren was being sought for misdemeanor charges, Harper said.
During the arrest attempt, Harper said Warren assaulted the officer and attempted to take his weapon. Warren failed to get the officer's gun and he fled the scene.
Warren is described as black man, 6 foot 3 inches tall and weighs about 260 pounds. Harper said he is considered dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 485-1860.
