No matter what happens today, baseball season will come to an end for Enterprise and Mooreville.
How it will end has yet to be determined.
Tied at one game apiece, the two teams will square off at Smith-Wills Stadium in Jackson at 7 p.m. in the decisive Game 3 of the Class 2A championship series.
In Game 1, Enterprise pitcher Wade Weathers stifled the Troopers en route to a 6-2 victory. Mooreville (32-5) rebounded the next day in Game 2, pounding out seven runs in the first two innings of an 11-1 win.
Berryman said he would not decide his Game 3 pitcher until today, but he seemingly has all options available. Jason Howell held Enterprise (30-7) in check throughout Game 2, and on three full days' rest after pitching five innings on Tuesday, Howell could start again for the Troopers.
Weathers is scheduled to get the start today for the Bulldogs, whom head coach Jeremy Wilkins said need to regain form quickly.
And though the Troopers quickly turned the tables on Enterprise, Wilkins remains confident that the Bulldogs can return the favor against the seven-time state champs.
The Mooreville-Enterprise game is the fourth in a series of prep baseball finales at Smith-Wills. Northwest Rankin played Oak Grove for the 5A state title on Friday, and Purvis plays Cleveland for the 3A Championship at 11 a.m. today. Brookhaven faces Pontotoc for the 4A crown today at 4 p.m.
